Cody’s approach to wedding photography

Cody is a Nashville born and raised wedding photographer who approaches weddings with an intention to details but also eye for moments. Her inspiration for weddings comes from being observant yet also a gentle director to take advantage of moments and light. She has photographed couples from here in Nashville as well as both domestic and international locations. Recently she has expanded her work with offering 35mm film and 8mm film. Cody herself has a great appreciation for love, art, and design which often inspire her photography.

What inspired me to be a photographer?

I grew up captivated by my grandmothers photo albums; no matter how many times I looked through them. I always noticed different photos that spoke to me. We would sit in the formal living room or dining room while sifting through the albums. A memory was unlocked when I asked a question or showed her a photo I loved. I want your photos to be that special too. The kind of photos that keep the moment and memories alive even decades later. Something your future self can smile about, maybe even your kids/grandkids can appreciate seeing you in that stage of life.

How I became a photographer

I was actually fired as a clinic scheduler from Vanderbilt Neurosurgery for editing too much at work. Woops. One day my boss called me into her office (after many write ups) & asked me what I wanted in life. I asked her “real life or dream life”? She said let’s hear the dream. “I just want to travel the world and take photos” I told her. She said “I’m going to give you that opportunity” haha so within a few years I was traveling the world & taking photos. Some things are just meant to be.
